MIL-C-38999 Fiber optic contact for connectors (size 22D).
FIBERNICS CO., LTD.
*Key features
Using zirconia ferrule and a split sleeve, size 22D optical pin-socket contact.
The first size 22D fiber optic contact in the world.
Less than 0.7dB of connection loss for both single-mode and multimode.
*detail:
Using 0.77mm zirconia ferrule
The most common fiber optic contacts were conventionally in size 16, and the thinnest contacts were commercialized up to size 21.
Size 22D was commercialized only for electrical contacts but not optic fiber contacts.
FIBERNICS CO., LTD. is the first manufacturer in the world that has succeeded in development of fiber optic contact size 22D and its sales.
*Advantages
Because the fiber optic contact is thinner, it allows using smaller shell size contact than conventional size 16 or size 21, which makes it possible to downsize communication devices.
As MIL-C-38999 circular connectors are used in aircraft, the downsizing of devices significantly benefits equipment manufacturers.
It’s possible to use a fiber optic contact and an electric contact simultaneously to MIL-C-38999 contacts if there’s not enough space to add a fiber optic connector.
